Fort Building
Fort building is one of those creative play activities that can be done from ages 2 (with lots of help!) up to the teen years.
When my sons were little adventurers, they delighted in creating enchanted forts - whether at school, in our backyard, or right in the heart of our home. I discovered that having supplies neatly tucked away nearby sparked their imaginations, leading to frequent building sprees. Our living room often transformed into a fantastical construction zone, where sofa cushions became sturdy walls, kitchen chairs turned into towering turrets, and every sheet and blanket was draped like the finest silken canopies. Soon, the entire space beneath became a secret hideaway, where they and the neighborhood children would crawl in, bringing along their favorite toys and books, ready to embark on the grandest of adventures.
Our Playclips are small and easy for children to use to build their own magical fort! They will clip and securely hold Playsilks, blankets, and sheets onto tables, chairs and sofas.

Secret play forts are magical places where childhood memories are made. Being given the autonomy to help create their own play space is incredibly meaningful for children - and with simple fort building tools like Playsilks and Playclips, it's easy for them to bring their dream play space to life!

Fort building is an activity that brings the whole family together. There are few activities that excite all three (7yrs, 3yrs, 1yr) of my children but fort building is on the top of that list! Even Mama and Papa love to join in! We use our silks, blankets, pillows, our nugget, and whatever else we find. Sometimes the fort is a specific thing and other times it’s something different for each child. Either way it’s the best type of open ended play!

My daughter doesn’t quite know how to make forts yet, as she just turned two. But she loves hiding in little corners and her tent. Mommy makes a fort with a blanket draped across the armrests of the couch and the armchair and she loves hiding there. A platfort would be wonderful! She already loves playing with her minisilks.

My children love fort building a frequently make tunnels to connect forts using their playsilks and clips. They love to bring in soft sheepskins and mats and blankets to their fort and cozy up with a book and a flashlight.

We LOVE integrating the Nugget couch with playsilks for the ultimate fort. We use the play clips on chairs and turn the entire room into a fort system. The playsilks are a necessary addition as they let light in so mu kids don’t get too scared.
